About us

Welcome to Happy Souls Kids! I’m Jacintha, and this is my son, Axel. Together, we’ve built this platform to help children and their families find the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges with emotional resilience, mindfulness, and a positive mindset. Our journey began humbly, as a private practice, where I worked one-on-one with families as a Family and Child Counsellor, Art Therapist, and Breathwork Coach. My mission was simple: to provide support that would help children explore their emotions and empower parents to guide their children with confidence and compassion.

As I began working with families, I quickly saw the profound impact these practices had—not only for the children but also for their parents. Emotional well-being is the foundation for growth, and as I witnessed the transformations in my clients, I knew that this work could reach beyond my practice. My personal journey through life changes, including navigating separation and raising Axel, taught me so much about emotional resilience. Axel has been my greatest teacher, and together, we’ve embraced practices like play, art meditation, and breathwork. We saw firsthand how these tools helped us connect and grow, and I knew that these same methods could benefit families everywhere.

What began as private, one-on-one sessions soon expanded into a larger vision. I realised that emotional health wasn’t just a need in my immediate community—it was a global need.

So, Happy Souls Kids was born. Our goal was to take the effective tools from my practice and make them accessible to families worldwide. Axel and I envisioned a platform where children could learn and engage with emotional health in fun, meaningful ways, and where parents could feel supported through resources that made parenting challenges more manageable.

Today, Happy Souls Kids has grown far beyond my original practice. We’ve built a platform that offers interactive, engaging content for children and families, including gamified tasks, video content with sports stars and mental health professionals, parental dashboards, and tools for schools. We aim to reach over 100,000 children by 2027, equipping them with the emotional skills they need to thrive in today’s world.

At the heart of Happy Souls Kids is the belief that emotional health is essential for every child’s development, and that parents play a vital role in fostering that growth. Our mission is to provide families with the tools to navigate emotions, build resilience, and create a foundation for a happy, healthy future.

Axel and I are excited to share this journey with you. Whether you’re here to learn more about mindfulness for your family or to explore our 21-day self-love program, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Thank you for being part of Happy Souls Kids. We look forward to connecting with you!

Love, light and gratitude,
Jacintha & Axel

Breathwork

From time to time, our little people can find themselves up against big emotions. These emotions can rise up at any time.

And while these situations might be unpleasant for you, imagine how difficult it is for someone who doesn’t know how to handle them. When tempers begin to flare, breathing exercises are one of the most effective calming strategies for kids who are dealing with difficult emotions. Anyone who has ever tried it can tell you there’s a lot of power in a deep cleansing breath. For kids, deep breathing is a great way to get them to focus on something else in the moment rather than “the thing” (or things) that are making them sad, mad, or frustrated. Moreover, breathing calms children by physically slowing them down. To practice deep breathing, they must stop whatever they are doing to complete the exercise. Be still and focus.

What is breathwork?

Diaphragmatic breathing, also known as belly breathing, is a relaxing type of breathing that is controlled by a large muscle in our abdomen called the diaphragm. When you activate this muscle, it helps to trigger a relaxation response in the body. This is known as parasympathetic activation, or “rest and relaxation” mode. It slows us down by decreasing our heart rate and blood pressure and also enhances digestive function. If we engage in more shallow breathing, our bodies may tend towards “flight or fight” mode (also called sympathetic activation). As we breathe more fully, we take air in through our nose, our diaphragm contracts, and our belly expands to make room for our lungs.

Art Therapy

Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy, in which clients, facilitated, by an art therapist, use the creative process of making art to explore their feelings. Art therapists use the process of self-expression, and the resulting artwork to help clients understand their emotional conflicts, develop social skills, improve self-esteem, manage addictions, reduce anxiety, and restore normal function to their lives. Research shows that art therapy benefits diverse client populations, and can be effective in a variety of formats. Art therapists work with people of all ages and challenges in life, including patients with severe behavioural problems and addictions, to clients without medical or psychological issues who are simply looking for personal insight into their lives.

Yoga

Our children live in a hurry-up world of busy parents, school pressures, incessant lessons, video games, and competitive sports. We usually don’t think of these influences as stressful for our kids, but often they are. The bustling pace of our children’s lives can have a profound effect on their innate joy— and usually not for the better.

Yoga is a practice that creates stillness to calm a child’s mind. When doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that marvellous inner light that all children have to the surface.

Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improve. Yoga improves balance, strength, endurance, and aerobic capacity.  A growing body of research has already shown that yoga can improve focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behaviour, and can even reduce anxiety and stress in children too.

Meditation

Meditation can help kids read and respond to internal signals of stress before their developing brains and bodies give in to a full-blown tantrum. The key is intuiting what your child needs to come back into balance and giving him or her the tools to practice.

Meditation, often referred to as consciousness or the practice of self-awareness in body and mind, has been revered for thousands of years as a natural, accessible way to regulate our reaction to stress and manifest good health. When presented with any kind of threat, humans are hardwired to fight, take flight, or freeze. Meditation helps both kids and adults find this inner calm, better sleep, reduced anxiety, improved self-esteem, ability to focus and study, reduced levels of stress.

Growth Mindset

Developing the right mindset early on is crucial for a successful, happy life. When kids learn putting forth effort and using the right strategies can help them get better at things, they feel empowered, and try harder. When they know their brains are capable of growing, they are more confident, resilient, and are not afraid to fail!

They need to know that their brains can grow stronger—measurably stronger—with time and effort. It sounds simple, but the effects of believing this are profound. Some children will have been born believing this, but others will be certain that they are as they are and that nothing will change that.

Students with a growth mindset see school as a place to develop their abilities and think of challenges as opportunities to grow. Children with a fixed mindset believe that intelligence is fixed at birth and doesn't change or changes very little with practice. Mindset shapes our everyday lives, helping us interpret our experiences and future possibilities.

Resilience in children

All children are capable of working through challenges and coping with stress. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from stress, adversity, failure, challenges, or even trauma. It’s not something that kids either have or don’t have; it’s a skill that kids develop as they grow.

Resilient kids are more likely to take healthy risks because they don’t fear falling short of expectations. They are curious, brave, and trusting of their instincts. They know their limits and they push themselves to step outside of their comfort zones. This helps them reach for their long-term goals and it helps them solve problems independently.

All kids encounter stress of varying degrees as they grow. Despite their best efforts, parents can’t protect kids from obstacles. Kids get sick, move to new neighbourhoods, encounter bullies and cyberbullies, take tests, cope with grief, lose friends, and deal with divorce, to name a few. These obstacles might seem small in the eyes of an adult, but they feel large and all-consuming to kids. So HAPPY SOULS KIDS teaches kids tools to self regulate.

Please head to HAPPY SOULS KIDS for further information, practices to help your child self regulate and to join the tribe.

Happy Souls Kids - THE PRACTICE

At HAPPY SOULS KIDS, we provide a safe haven for children to explore their inner selves and develop a deep connection with the world around them. Our aim is to build emotional resilience, reduce stress, and help children learn how to listen to their internal signals. Through counselling, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, yoga, and art therapy, we equip kids with tools to combat mental health challenges and practice self-regulation.

Our core values are love, respect, kindness, honesty, compassion, empathy, and caring.

Jacintha offers one-on-one sessions with children in a safe and welcoming environment, empowering them to connect with their inner selves. When a child loses connection with themselves, they also lose connection with the world around them. Each session with Jacintha is tailored to the child's unique needs, as she uses her exceptional ability to tune into their emotions and connect the dots. Jacintha employs various techniques, such as art therapy, play therapy, counseling and emotional healing, to help children. She also provides them and their parents with tools such as breathwork, yoga, nature play, art, affirmations, and more to help them self-regulate.

The sessions are not just for children, but for the entire family. Jacintha works closely with parents to build a new language in the household to support deepening the connection.

At Happy Souls Kids, we recognise that parenting can be a challenging journey, and we want to support parents in any way we can. During our one-on-one sessions with children, we also provide resources and tools for parents to help them continue the work we do with their children at home. We want to empower parents to be a part of their child's journey towards mental and emotional well-being.

Additionally, we offer workshops and educational resources for parents on topics such as mindfulness, resilience-building, and emotional regulation. Our goal is to provide parents with the tools and knowledge they need to better support their child's mental and emotional health, and to create a strong, supportive family dynamic.

We believe that educating parents on these topics is just as important as working with the children themselves. When both parents and children are equipped with the skills and tools to navigate challenging emotions and situations, the entire family can thrive. Our hope is to create a ripple effect of positive change within families and communities.

Overall, Happy Souls Kids empowers families to connect and build resilience and learn the tools necessary for healthy self-regulation while nurturing their connection to themselves and the world around them.

Family and Child Counselling

As a family and child counsellor at Happy Souls Kids, our role is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children and families can work through challenging situations and emotions. I offer one-on-one sessions for children to help them connect with their inner selves and develop emotional resilience.

During the sessions, I work with children to help them express and process their emotions through play therapy, art therapy, and emotional healing. I also offer counselling for parents and families to help them navigate complex family dynamics and build stronger, healthier relationships.

My approach is client-centred, which means that I tailor each session to the unique needs of the child or family. I provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space for children and families to share their feelings and experiences.

Through my work as a family and child counsellor, I aim to empower children and families with the tools and skills they need to thrive emotionally and mentally. I believe that by building emotional resilience and strengthening family relationships, we can help children grow into happy and confident adults.

At Happy Souls Kids, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are committed to helping children and their families reach their full potential. We approach our work with compassion, empathy, and heart, and we are honored to be a part of every child and family's journey towards healing and growth.
