My Journey to Healing and Empowering Others
Hi, I’m Jacintha, though you can call me J – it’s easier and reflects the essence of who I am today. Over the past 20 years, I’ve walked a path filled with healing, transformation, and growth, and that path has led me to help others, especially children and families, embrace their true selves and build emotional resilience. My life has been shaped by challenges, but each step of the way, I’ve discovered tools and practices that have allowed me to navigate through adversity with grace and strength.
My journey has been far from linear. Growing up, I was a happy child, but as the years went by, I started to feel like I didn’t quite belong. I became disconnected from my inner self, feeling that I had to hide parts of who I was to fit in. This disconnection shaped much of my early life. It wasn’t until later that I began to embrace my emotions and allow myself to heal from the experiences that left me feeling isolated and unsure of who I was.
In 2019, I went through a significant life change when I separated from my son Axel’s father. In my article "I’m a Single Mother – a Term I Hoped I’d Never Have to Use" for Your Zen Mama, I shared the immense challenges of navigating life as a single mother. It wasn’t just about the separation – it was about rebuilding my identity, finding strength in vulnerability, and learning to show up for myself and my son in ways I hadn’t before. Through this process, Axel became my greatest teacher, showing me the power of resilience, love, and the importance of being present, even when life feels overwhelming.
It was during this time that I turned to practices like meditation, breathwork, and art therapy to help me heal. These tools became essential not just for my survival but for my growth. In "Healing with Art Therapy" for Wellbeing, I opened up about how art became a powerful medium for me to express emotions I couldn’t articulate through words. Creative expression became my way of navigating the deep pain I was experiencing, and it allowed me to start rebuilding from the inside out.
Through these experiences, I found a deep desire to help others on their journeys of emotional healing and growth. This passion led me to create Happy Souls Kids, a platform dedicated to supporting children in building resilience, emotional awareness, and mental well-being. I realised that many of the challenges I faced in my life stemmed from not having the right tools to understand and process my emotions as a child. Happy Souls Kids aims to provide these tools to children, equipping them with the skills to manage their emotions, navigate life’s challenges, and grow into strong, emotionally intelligent individuals.
Our platform is designed to be engaging and accessible, using a combination of video content, gamified tasks, and resources for parents and educators. We collaborate with athletes, mental health professionals, and educators to ensure that the content we create resonates with children and supports their mental well-being in a way that feels relevant and fun. We’re on a mission to reach over 100,000 children by 2027, helping them develop the emotional tools they need to thrive.
My journey through sobriety, single motherhood, and self-discovery has shaped every aspect of my work. In "Seven Years Sober", I shared how choosing sobriety was a turning point in my life. It wasn’t just about giving up alcohol – it was about choosing myself, facing my past, and committing to a life of healing. This decision led me to where I am today, working as a Family and Child Counsellor, Art Therapist, Breathwork Coach, and Meditation Teacher, helping others heal, grow, and reconnect with their true selves.
At Happy Souls Kids, I aim to create a space where both children and their families can explore their emotions, find strength in vulnerability, and cultivate emotional resilience. I believe that by supporting parents and children in understanding their emotions, we can create a generation that is more compassionate, self-aware, and resilient.
If you’re ready to embark on this journey of healing and self-discovery, I’d love for you to explore Happy Souls Kids and our 21-day self-love program. Together, we can help your family navigate life’s challenges with resilience, joy, and inner peace.
